  • TOLU COKER

Tolu Coker is a young British-Nigerian Fashion Designer, Textile Designer and Illustrator based in London.

Following several successful stints at Maison Margiela, J.W. Anderson and Celine, the London-born designer graduated from the prestigious Central Saint Martin's Design school with First Class Honours before launching her acclaimed label TOLU COKER.  She has since gone on to win three titles at the ITS Fashion Awards, as well as the Asos Fashion Discovery prize and London Fashion Scout Merit Award all within the first year of the brands' launch.

Tolu Coker evokes a wider conversation around Black identity and diversity today with her most recent collection delving deep into the archive of her late father and his photojournalistic coverage of the Black Panther movement of 1970's London. Lifting inspiration from both images and personal journals kept at the time.

Both a talented designer and hands-on illustrator, Tolu Coker has pioneered new and resourceful techniques to merge her vision of artisanal craftsmanship with innovative technology.  There is a total focus on deconstruction and genuine sustainability, producing her collections locally in London from off-cuts and by-product textiles.  Re-worked Leathers, Ultra-Suede (faux) and distressed denims create new and revolutionary materials, giving the brand its idiosyncratic and textural look.

Tolu Coker's multi-disciplinary collections are a celebration of diversity and inclusivity with each piece being Unisex by design.

While interest floods in from stockists around the world, Tolu Coker is being hailed as London's next rising star featuring in leading publications Vogue, Love Magazine, Dazed, Hunger, Another, WWD and NME whilst fulfilling private orders for the likes of Rihanna and Rita Ora.
